About the event
The Japan American Friendship Festival, hosted by JASNE-JANAFA, will take place on October 25th as part of the Newport–Shimoda Sister City Celebration. This lively event brings together communities to celebrate Japanese culture and the enduring friendship between Japan and the United States.
Guests are encouraged to dress festively, whether in a Halloween costume, kimono, or traditional clothing from their own cultural background. The festival will include a cosplay contest for families and kids, as well as an exciting lineup of performances and activities. Enjoy martial arts demonstrations, the powerful rhythms of taiko drumming, hands-on origami, beautiful kimono, and much more.
